Based in Bethlehem in the West Bank, Bustan Qaraaqa is a permaculture project promoting sustainable, creative solutions to problems of environmental degradation and food and water insecurity facing the local community. We experiment on our farm to develop appropriate technologies and practices to promote and implement with our community partners to help them to keep their homes, access natural resources and protect their community and the quality of the local environment.

What is "permaculture"?
Permaculture is a design process guided by the principles of Earth care and people care.

A definition of the concept:  "Consciously designed landscapes which mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature, while yielding an abundance of food, fibre and energy for the provision of local needs."  David Holmgren
